Personal Note

First, I would like to thank you for visiting the “KATONOUS” website, an artistic platform for poetry and philosophy of my own creation, which I publish under my artist name, KATONOUS.

I am 16 years old, a poet, philosopher, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) student in physics.

For the past six years, I have been traveling the world with my parents and older sister.

Our journey across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe has served as a major source of inspiration for my work.

Self-Exemption from Accessibility

According to official publications by the Ministry of Justice and the Commission for Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities, I hereby present a “self-exemption,” as permitted by law, under the clause of economic exemption from website accessibility.

However, I believe that accessibility is a moral, social, and personal responsibility.

It is a great honor for me to ensure that every person, as they are, can fully participate and enjoy the content I share.

I aim to strictly adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at level AA.

My goal is for the site to be accessible to all people: individuals with visual impairments, motor difficulties, epilepsy, color blindness, cognitive disabilities, and more.

What is an Accessible Website?

An accessible website is one that is adapted to the needs of all users, including people with disabilities, and complies with Section G, Chapter E of the Accessibility to Services Regulations, as well as Israeli Standard 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 level AA.

The KATONOUS website is designed with simplicity, maintaining a logical order and clear hierarchy.

Keyboard Navigation

The website supports keyboard navigation:

This includes the ability to move through the site using the Tab and Shift + Tab keys, activate menus and selection fields with arrow keys, and close them with Esc.

It also includes activating buttons and links with the Enter key.

Links are clearly distinguished from other text, making it easy to identify clickable items.

Readability and Visual Accessibility

Display zoom (also known as “viewing distance” or “zoom”) can be adjusted easily using common keyboard shortcuts available on all browsers:

• Hold Ctrl and press + to zoom in
• Hold Ctrl and press – to zoom out
• Hold Ctrl and press 0 to reset to default zoom

Font families and sizes used throughout the site

Poppins font for body text, and Alex Brush as a poetic signature.

Minimum font size: 1REM on desktop screens, and 16px on tablets and mobile phones.

Headings & Structure

The website is written semantically using standard HTML tags (h1, h2, h3, etc.) with a clear content hierarchy.

In addition, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes are embedded to ensure that screen reader users can read, understand, and fully interact with the site.

Images include ALT tags that provide clear, simple descriptions of the image content.

Color Contrast

The site avoids color schemes that may interfere with users who have color blindness.

Color is not used as the sole method of conveying information.

The site content is written in English.

Accessible Forms

Logical navigation using the TAB key, and backward navigation with SHIFT + TAB.

Labels are used in addition to placeholder text inside form fields.

Labels are not hidden when the user inputs data.

Clickable Areas

Clickable areas are large enough and spaced apart to help users with motor impairments interact with buttons, links, and fields.

Line lengths follow accessibility recommendations for comfortable reading: most lines contain 10–16 words when viewed at normal zoom level.

Language

I share abstract ideas through poetry and philosophy in English.

At times, complex language may be used, but I always strive to express myself clearly and respectfully.
